I’ve always been fascinated by systems programming languages, but for a long time they didn’t seem accessible. There was barely an Internet back when I was in school. Kids these days don’t know how lucky they are and all that… :-)
Having had a career that focused mainly on scripting languages (Python being my favorite), I finally sat down in 2016 and decided it was time to master a systems programming language for realsies. I took a month and surveyed every systems programming language I could find (nearly 50 of them!) to determine which language would be most worthwhile for me to spend my time with. As I expected, C and C++ were in the running as finalists. Much to my surprise, a new and upcoming language (ahem, Rust) just knocked my socks off!
After some months of experimentation with Rust, I was completely sold. In 2017 I began teaching Rust, and haven’t stopped. For more courses / things I work on, check out agileperception.co
